The word l o v e l y showing as !!!! ly on MSE ?

just been typing out the word l o v e l y on a birthday thread on MSE & it's coming up with the !!!!
is it a banned word now? :eek::eek:

Same is happening with the word s a l e. None of the property links of the Have a look at this thread are working because of it.

Someones been a bit overeager with the banned words list!!

Please, we don't mind being forbidden some letters (any accented e for example) but has the opposite of hate become such a vulnerability to attack that it must be !!!!-ed out?

I also think that MSE sometimes goes too far on banning words. It often causes problems with adding links on the boards. And the idea of banning the 'L' word makes me sad.

This is obviously to stop the k1tchin 5ale5 and tantr1c 10ve spammers and has made a total mess of the forums making many posts very difficult to understand. In a thread I was reading the poster wanted to "force a !!!!", took me ages to figure out what he was saying, putting all sorts of 4 letter rude words into the !s. The team have obviously taken the easy way to stop them, much simpler than doing the job they are paid to do :mad:

it's making it very difficult as well on the comps board for a lot of the comp sites

L o v e is free so should be and Mse popular thing and if the word s a l e is banned then, well, the shopping parts of the site or those that rely on them are heading towards doom or further being impenetrable for newbies when we choose bizarre board or long thread particular alternative words.
