Tesco Card PPI

Options
Hi All . Recently Tesoc wrote to me to say that they may have missold my PPI and asked me to fill in a form which I duly did and sent off . I received a letter back yesterday to say that my complaint was upheld and I was due a refund which is great . However they are now saying that before they can pay out they need to see certified copies of my passport and driving licence to verify my address and signature which I find quite strange considering they originally wrote to me and of course have been dealing with me via mycredit card on a monthly basis .

I have not had this before . Is this normal for RBS?

Anti money laundering rules apply to refunds. Many companies either have sufficient information on file to use that and/or they will use the electronic verification method. If you fail that then they need to revert back to the old fashioned method which is typically passport, driving licence or some other things.

  • Thanks very much I just found it strange that after dealing with them for nearly 8 years that only now they would want to check my signature !!

Guidelines change. A few years back it was altered to include payments out. There is also a lot of interpretation in the guidelines. I have clients that I have dealt with for 20 years but I often have to get ID information again. Such as when passport expires (you can no longer use it) or they have moved address or changed name due to marriage. Transactions from years ago may not have needed it at that time but do now when there is an adjustment.
