Is it worth re-applying Lloyds PPI?

I had a PPI claim reject towards the end of 2012. As it was essentially my word against theirs (Lloyds) I was advised it was not worth going to the ombudsman so I left it.
Recently someone has said it may be worth re-applying due to the report that Lloyds were simply rejecting claims with no basis.
I had 2 loans neither of which I was aware had PPI until I raised it with the bank. Is it worth appealing again or has too much time lapsed (I understand I had 6 months form when they turned me down initially)?

Without evidence pointing towards your allegation being correct, you would expect a complaint on that point to be rejected.Recently someone has said it may be worth re-applying due to the report that Lloyds were simply rejecting claims with no basis.
You dont get a second bite of the cherry unless you have significant new evidence which could alter the outcome of the complaint. Banks are required to review rejections on pre-court case rejections upon request but yours is not that long ago.
It doesnt appear yours was rejected with no basis. You said yourself there was no evidence. Is it worth appealing again or has too much time lapsed (I understand I had 6 months form when they turned me down initially)?
You are time barred from the FOS. You can ask Lloyds to review the complaint but they are within their rights to say no.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Thank you very much for your response. Out of interest are others usually successful when they simply say "I was not aware I had PPI?"
When I took my first loan although I worked for a company I was actually on a government training scheme and so was not really classed as employed (this was borne out when I became unemployed and had no end of trouble trying to sign on) - I did say this in a letter I provided but it was obviously rejected.0 -

Not for that reason no. Weight it put on the documentation that exists and what it says. Anyone can say they didnt know about it. You could be truthful. You could be making it up. This is why the documentation is used.
Typically, pay outs are made to people not eligible, set up badly, poor wording used which gave impression of advised service and not non-advised (requirements for advised are higher than non advised), auto payouts, lack of documentation supporting suitability, too onerous conditions on policy etc.
Allegations of things said verbally or things that cannot be proven do not normally succeed on that particular point. Although some people will go onto succeeding in their complaint because another failing was identified. When I took my first loan although I worked for a company I was actually on a government training scheme and so was not really classed as employed
Did you tell them you were employed when you borrowed the money? They are only as good as what you tell them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Apologies for resurrecting a very old thread...
Out of the blue on Saturday I had a letter from Lloyds - they had looked into my original PPI complaint again and have upheld the complaint. They are going to refund £3100 (original cost of the PPI + interest). I had never gone to the ombudsman or taken this any further as the advice was simply 'it is you against them' which I understood and agreed with.
Merry bloody Christmas :-D
I guess I am just posting this in case others had their cases rejected by Lloyds - may be worth following up to see if they are reviewing your case as well.0
