never had any problem with Italy using post or couriers. However my descriptions always include the words Used or Second-hand, which is truthful and seems to deter the average tea-leaf.

The issue is not false claims, it is the actual Italian post. I work with an Italian girl who won't even send small gifts for her family as she says half of it goes astray. She saves all the presents up and takes regular cheap, flights home to deliver them personally.

Incidentally, I sell antique and vintage items which are by their very nature second hand, and yes, they have failed to arrive.

  • I stopped sending via RM to Italy and signed is not worth the paper it's written on as paypal won't accept it and it is only signed while in the uk.
I always use interparcel if they are willing to pay for it and then it's tracked all the way.

On my banned list along with South America and Mexico. Have no idea what happens to the mail but it rarely gets to the destination.

A miracle happened. I posted a package to Italy on tuesday and today (friday) it was there. Previous parcels have taken 3/4 weeks.

Royal Mail International Signed For now does show as 'Delivered' on Royal Mail - it updates to that status approximately 24 to 48 hours after it's shown as delivered on Poste Italien's website.

I've used Interparcel for items over the 2kg limit for Royal Mail and that has been fine too. Unfortunately since Fedex stopped working with parcel brokers, the price of parcels via courier has generally gone up. And adding insurance can add another 20 pounds plus VAT to the parcel cost too whereas with Royal Mail you can insure up to 500 pounds for about 2.60 more.
  • anything i post to italy i send international signed for just to make sure it gets there and all never had a problem that way

Still takes ages to arrive though.
