Transfer email account from bt/yahoo to bt.com

I understand this is necessary as there has been so much spam originating from the yahoo servers; that had not been my experience until bt announced the changeover last summer and since then I regularly receive scam emails asking me to enter my bt/yahoo password etc.
I fell for it last October, and was astounded how difficult it became to contact anyone in bt who was interested in the problem, and it goes without saying you cannot find a number to call someone.
I eventually called the police fraud office, who politely told me they were not interested in my minor problem, but they did put me in touch with a bt phone number and thus eventual transfer to someone in India, who took 2 hours to regain control of my email account. In the meantime all of my contacts had been told I was 'destitute in Ukraine and could they please wire me money to get home'.
I traced the guys who had done this through ip numbers etc., but bt are not interested in prosecution?
I post this to warn any other bt/yahoo users to be very careful about providing password info, although bt could help too by providing information on how and precisely when the changeover will occur. It cannot be too soon for me.
