Getting laminate floor fitted-potential difficulty?

I'm getting laminate flooring fitted tomorrow and the fitter has said he needs the old carpet taking up before he arrives.
When we took it up we realised there were old Marley tiles underneath, some of which have become brittle with age and broke up when we removed the gripper rods.
So the perimeter of the room has quite a few broken tiles. Will this cause a problem for the fitter as it's obviously making the floor uneven in these areas?

if you can, stick the pieces back down so the floor is level, even if cracked.
or get a few tiles from Poundland (4 for £1) and cut to size to fill in the gaps (may need 2 layers as marley tiles thicker than poundland tiles!)A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
