Crossroads Care

I don't know if others have used them, or are even aware of them, but I have managed to get some home care for my DH from Crossroads Care, and thought others might be interested.
I can get 12 hours every 4 weeks, 6 of these cost £3.75 per hour, and the remaining 6 are free - a bit like BOGOF! This is apparently subsidised by the local council, and other funding.
My DH has Alzheimer's and is physically disabled too, and bath times, even with a bath lift, are a real struggle now, and distressing for us both.
So we will have 2 visits a week, each of an hour and a half, when he will be given a bath, and dressed, and have a cuppa, and I can manage his hygiene the other days by using Bath Bed Wipes, not ideal, but adequate.
And, oh joy, whilst he's with the carer, I can have a sleep! :j

Crossroads were brilliant with my Mum - a wonderful carer came once a week for three hours and usually took Mum out so that Dad could have a relaxing morning and didn't have to go over for a few hours.0
