Get yourself a little solar charger - 5000mAh ones are pretty cheap and will charge a phone off the cell in daylight, whilst holding a couple of charges in reserve and can be charged off your lighter socket when the engine is running and left on the dash or better still out in the sun to further charge during the day.

Also, depending on make of phone, reasonable pattern batteries are not that dear - I have three for mine and between them and the solar charger, I can do a week to ten days off-mains for my phone before I need to get the cell fully charged. :)

Batteries supplied by someone other than the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to the same form and specification, but usually much cheaper. Same with 'pattern parts' for cars - roughly, parts made to the same 'pattern', but by someone else.

E.g I recently put a new battery in my phone at a cost of less than £10, including the special screwdriver to take the case off. A genuine Apple item would have been £50 or so. The new one works fine.

Cant you just run the engine for a short time each day.

    BUT charging a phone 25 times in a week....seriously!
  • How about buying a cheap non-touchscreen phone for a tenner, pop your SIM in and use that for calls/texts. Take a camera with if you want to take photos. Keep your 'normal' phone for use occasionally if you can't be too far from facebook/twitter/snapchat for too long.

Spending all day on your phone whilst away camping feels like it defeats the point of it all

With camping, using the stereo and car lights tend to be the thing that can drain batteries. The phone charger drain is negligible.... though i think 24 charges in a 7 day period is a bit excessive! Definately cut down on your phone use and go for a walk or sotmething!

It's probably wise to take the car out for a decent run half way through the week as well, to charge it's battery up if you've been using it.
  • you'd have to do a lot of charging for a long time to run the battery flat, i really wouldnt worry

when we go motor racing events, i take a long fag lighter extension cable and hang it out my boot, we've had 4 or 5 phones charging at the same time on and off for a week and the car started up no problem

the same extension lead was also used to blow up air beds etc

just visualise the size of the battery in the car and the size of the battery in a phone, i know its not scientific, but it gives you an idea
