Ppi scam

Options
My wife contacted ppi claimline last year to see if she was owed anything. They won a total of £897 for her which was good and we were happy to pay 25%. After we received all checks of four policy's they sent a letter wanting 50% which we disputed but were told it was in small print claims under £600 we were to pay 50%. I still cannot find it in small print stating this and was wondering if this was legal and if anyone has had same problems

    Here it is :

    How we calculate our fee
3.1 Our fee is 29% of the amount of Compensation we recover for you plus VAT. If the amount of Compensation we recover for you for any particular Claim is between £720 to £1,000, our fee for that Claim is £300 plus VAT. However, if the compensation you receive is below £720 we will charge you 50% including VAT. The amount of our fee for any particular Claim, including VAT, will never be more than half of the amount of Compensation we recover for you for that Claim.
3.2 For example, if we recover for you Compensation of £2,500, our fee will be £725 plus VAT; if we recover for you Compensation of £900 for a Claim, our fee for that Claim will be £300 plus VAT; and if we recover for you Compensation of £300 for a Claim, our fee for that Claim will be £150 including VAT.
3.3 Our fees are charged entirely on a "no win no fee" basis subject to paragraph 8 setting out conditions to this. This means that, if we are not successful in recovering Compensation for you, you do not have to pay us anything, you only have to pay our fee after we have recovered your Compensation (subject to paragraph 8 setting out conditions to this). Although we may have to ask the Firm to send us a copy of your credit documents, for which we have to pay a fee, we bear this and all other costs ourselves and we do not charge you any hidden or "administrative" charges. Also our fee is only based on the amount of Compensation we recover and not on the basis of any future saving you may make from cancellation of the PPI.
3.4 We have to charge VAT on the amount of our fee, but this is a sales tax we pay to the Government. The VAT rate is fixed and subject to change to any rate that the Government set.
3.5 We will send you an invoice in respect of any fee and VAT we charge.
  • Daylight robbery (a bit like PPI, really)
  • They can't send a copy of my wife's signature agreeing to the 50% fee and all four policy's were from the same bank. They said it's was the banks problem for sending them individually. Going to seek legal advice as when you check there company reviews it seems we're not the only ones affected by this

Even more cost to you, then.
At this rate, you'll have no PPI redress left at all.

The T&C's specify per claim, not per institution.

Don't seek legal advice, you don't need it submit a complaint to them about the confusion over charges if they disagree escalate it to the Claims Management Regulator.
