One of my credit cards has a much higher credit limit than I want or need. The card provider allows you to request an increase online, but not a reduction. So I messaged them. This was the response:
"We are able to reduce your credit limit. Before we do this please note the following: Reducing your credit limit may have an impact on your credit file, as credit providers can only see that your overall limit has been reduced, not that you have requested this."
Alice in Wonderland world !!!

Maybe consider closing another CC you have?0 -
Credit card companies want you to run up debt. It's how they make money.0

Sounds about right, higher limit also ensure that (assuming you don't max it out) you have a lower credit utilised % - which also looks better..
So either maintain the willpower to not over spend, or close it down completely...0 -
So they don't want you to reduce your limit. The more you use the card the more profit they will make! I would ignore them and cut your limit to what you consider sensible.0
