Renaming of items?

Hi, first post on here, (although not first post as such... my old username was lost with my email address 6 months ago!) and apologies if I ramble!
I have a query regarding Argos and making an item look more attractive... sounds bizarre but Ill explain...
I bought a corner desk with a view to expanding my office with further items from the range (called Anderson) when I could afford it. The range was available last week, but when I looked today it was gone. After a little bit more searching I came across an identical range now named 'Walton'. The prices are the same, except that all of the (identical) items in the range are stating 'Half Price'. They are showing a price double to what the range was originally sold at, but stating 'half price'.
Does anyone know if there is a name for this practice?
(I have researched the new and old range before I became this indignant... the shape, specs, sizes, colour ect are all completely identical!)
I did send an email requesting the information from Argos this afternoon, and received a call from them half an hour ago. The man on the phone seemed intent on letting me know that the new range would only ever be sold at the sale price, but my problem is with their sales tactic? (Which I did state)
Any answers greatly appreciated!

Did you ask them when the 'Walton' range was sold at the 'was' price?
To advertise a 'was' price, the item has to have been sold in a certain number of stores for a certain amount of time (not sure on the specifics).0 -
No but thank you, thats probably the information I was looking for (trying to wrack my head for missing information
