Found a new place, same street as my old house.
Moving into exs house was too much of a headache tbh0 -
If the visit was forewarned then a fraudster who was potentially in cahoots with a landlord could roll up at the appointed time and claim they were living there.
At the end of the day the HB claim can only be processed once a claimant has spent a night at the property. So unannouced visits are better to weed out potentially fraudulent claims (not suggesting yours is btw)Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...
Pet Peeves.... queues, vain people and hypocrites ..not necessarily in that order.0 -

No, completely agree, if that's what must be done to stop fraud I'm all for it.
I was just a little confused as I have never heard of them coming out to your house, they didn't ask for proof of benefits or savings or any of the things I would have thought they wanted to see.
Just wanted to see I was living there and for 2 proofs of ID, although how a bank card and bank statement proves I am me I assumed they would want photographic id
I'm rambling now.0 -

It's just see that you really are living there. Some are committing fraud and claiming HB for properties they don't live in. I don't understand how it works.
Contact the office about her response. She should have clearly explained the reason for the visit.
I had a visit once. The person was very open about the reason for their visit and made me feel relaxed about it.0
