I'm partial to an occasional flutter on the AIM from time to time, and thus far I've been lucky enough for it to have done me well, I was looking around for a next move as it were and in the course of researching a few options found this:
(article I'm not allowed to link to it seems, essentially appearing to strongly imply a pending deal between Apple and Motive Television)
Would it be overly cynical to suspect that something so oddly specific may well hinge on some inside information and hence be worth a slightly larger punt than normal, or should I treat it as pure confabulation?

It's hard to say without being able to see the article and what the source is. I see some chat rooms have rumours but anyone can start a rumour on there so very risky to put faith in these.Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.0

You're not allowed to post a link because you're a newbie and haven't posted enough on MSE. Try not to read too much into it except we don't like spammers on here!Thinking critically since 1996....0

It seems a rather prudent policy, I imagine it must work very well.IronWolf wrote:It's hard to say without being able to see the article and what the source is. I see some chat rooms have rumours but anyone can start a rumour on there so very risky to put faith in these.
True, I reckon I would still take a flutter in the absence of such rumours it simply makes me wonder if its worth putting a tad more in. The company seem to have built up a number of contracts over the last year and it seems unlikely that my investment would fall by more than I'm happy to lose, part of me is keen to move some of my more medium risk investments over in the hope of a significant price movement should there be substance to the unlinkable article.0 -
There is so much QE funny money flying around in circles, looking for a better home than the derisory interest rates on offer, that anything that is not obviously bad draws attention to a company and inflates its share price.
So any individual shares, especially small companies, tipped in the media including web forums is likely to be over valued.“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -
If it truly is "insider information" and you are privy to it prior to release to the stockmarket you can get into a lot of trouble trading. I doubt such "insider knowledge" would be readily available and well guarded by the companies concerned.
If its just a tip off a board then I would treat it with a pinch of salt as most of the time they are just trying to boost up the price before they sell themselves.0
