Internet shopping refund not received

I bought an item of clothing from a well known high street retailer's website. The item was faulty and I returned it (along with several other items that weren't faulty). I received a refund for all the other items but was told there would be a delay with this one due to quality control checks.

Three weeks later I contacted the retailer to check the status of the refund. They said that the refund has been actioned, but I haven't received the money. I was told to take it up with my credit card provider. My card provider can find no trace of the money, even with the reference number provided by the retailer. Neither party will accept responsibility and I still don't have my money. Who is responsible here and what can I do?

It may take them up to 28 days to process a refund (or so I've read on here)

If they say its been actioned it would take 3-5 working days to show up on your account, if its not there advise them you can send in a copy of your statement to prove its not been received and ask what date this was actioned on.
