Where To Turn Now?
Please can someone tell me what my next step should be? I have prepayment meters with Utilita, been with them over a year can't fault their service but this weekend we have a huge problem.
I used the emergency credit of £10 on Friday evening, I have done this before too, it reverts to Friendly credit which it lets you use until 10 am on a Monday when it will cut off if you don't top up with the used emergency and extra friendly credit used, I've never had to payback more than £15.
I went to check the amount outstanding last night at 7.40 pm it was saying £57.90!!!
This weekend the only gas we have used is 1 small gas fire in the living room set to very very low so you could barely see the flame, I didn't turn it on until 1pm both weekend days. We have not used the combi boiler or radiators, I made casseroles in the slow cooker both nights so no gas hob needed.
I was so shocked but knew there had to be a fault so I watched the freedom unit that registers gas useage, within an hr it had increased to £60.48, I found an number to call, spoke to them for 30 minutes, did a meter reset gas on and off, freedom unit reset, none of which worked, by the end of the it was reading £62.42!
He made notes on the system then told me to ring back this morning, so at 8am and the gas at £63.52 I rang the customer service guy saw the notes asked me to do various things none of which changed anything by the end of that call I was at £66.52.
He said he'd e-mailed the meter team with all the details and I would have to let the supply cutoff, wait for a call & go through things with them, the meter supply cutoff at 10 and by 12.30 my reading is at £97.00. I then received an e-mail saying sorry I think I have used a lot of gas over the weekend they will send me a pack out about gas useage! I replied but apparently it can take 5 working days to reply!
I just rang them again to say the gas is still registering huge amounts even though supply is off literally £25-30 so far, they said they'll get someone to call me back, what should I do to get them to see there's a fault? There is no leak inside as we have checked!
