I'm a natural worrier, I applied on Saturday for the Progress card, and was accepted by the good old computerized person at Capital One (said 7 days for pin and card etc..)

Now, When I applied it didn't state in the application or anywhere on the page that you couldn't apply if you already hold another card with them, but checking again today, it states:

The interest rates per annum are variable. Credit is available subject to status and conditions. If you have applied for a Capital One card in the last six months your application may be declined. If you already have a Capital One card or if you are not a UK resident please do not apply. :(

I've hold a secured card since June 2012, limit increased once from £200 to £400, and they still hold my £200, yes £200 () deposit.

Is there a chance they could decline the Progress card even if the computer said I was accepted?
:mad: :mad: :mad::mad:

Yes, I know what you're gonna say! call them, but I can't at the moment as I'm at work :rotfl: (oh the joys :D )

Thanks guys! (and Gurls! :D)

P.s. Serious answers only please :T :rotfl:

I'm sure I remember reading that this doesn't apply if you hold the secured/classic and go for the progress. I may be wrong but I'm positive there have been reports of folk here holding the progress and classic.

Did you apply late on Saturday? If so the computers at the CRAs don't take applications so it comes through to underwriting. That can be a blessing or not, depending on if you get a sympathetic underwriter.
    Oh, you wee bazza!

Could it be they took internal history into consideration?

Possibly. I honestly don't know, specially with Capone.

True that!, I'll sit tight and wait and see I think :) Thank you :)

On the plus side, I managed to increase my overdraft with Nationwide to £300 from £100 (Using internal score), not that I'll go past £100 (Fee free), but it helps? with credit file :/

I have had a Progress card for the last few years and it's now at the lowest APR. I applied for their (I believe) Classic card as I wanted the 0.5% cash back and 0% foreign purchases.

It said we'll contact you in a few days if we need any more information. I got a letter a few days later saying it had been cancelled/declined due to already having a Progress card.

Annoying, as they'd already ran a credit check.

That is very annoying! :(, this is the other way around though, and it said accepted :/ .. where when I applied 6/7 months ago it said same as you, further checks and it it was canceled due to having the secure.

HOWEVER, the limit on my secure card went from £200, to £400 in June, do you think; after the limit, it's treated as a classic card?, hence why I've had it at £400 now for 6/7 months and it's come back as accepted? :(

    In their FAQ Section :)

I already have a Capital One card. Can I apply for another one?
Yes, if you've had a Capital One account for over two months you can also apply for some of our latest products. Take a look to see if one of these great cards also suits you.

You can hold 2 Cap One cards at once, I have the classic card and the progress card. I took me 2 years to get both though.
    Classic was got August 2011
Progress applied and declined in June 2012, reapplied in May 2013 and was given it with a £1500 limit. At the same time they increased the limit on the classic from £800 to £1550.

Thanks!. When you where accepted for the Progress, did it tell you straight away online like mine did? - Also, before when it declined you, did it come back with they'd let you know within the next 5 -7 days?. When applied for it 7 months ago it came back 5 - 7 days etc.. then I called them and they said they cancelled the application :T

I've had my secured/classic for exactly a year and a half, so fingers crossed. Even though they took £200 deposit from me before they gave me it, they doubled my limit last June/July.
