PPI on a mortgage?

Options
I had a mortgage between 2001 and 2006 which I no longer have any paperwork for.
How can I find out if there was PPI on it etc.?

Look at your bank statements. One of the reasons most MPPI complaints are rejected is that most MPPI is standalone and paid by monthly premium (the other reasons typically being that it covers a major debt with lifestyle changing consequences if it goes unpaid - unlike loan and credit card PPI - and that a high proportion were put in place under an advised process and most advisers did not become regulated until Jan 2005. Plus, advisers tend to have much better audit trails).

  • I don't have bank statements going back that far either - it's over 7 years ago

Who did you buy your mortgage with (estate agent, adviser, lender)?

What grounds for complaint do you have? (as its not wrong to have MPPI - you need to have a complaint reason)

The point is that you must not only prove that you had MPPI. You must also show that you were wrongly advised to take it out AND that if you had been correctly advised you would not have taken it out.

    Quite a tall order.
