Heating on all day or on timer?

Is it cheaper to have your central heating on all day on low or have it in a timer either 2 or 3 times a day? Ours is currently on 6.50am to 8am and them 7.30pm until 10pm. Now the weather is cold we seem to keep switching it on for a couple of hours late afternoon. Set at 18 degrees Our office room is north facing and so…
