Exchanging payment in cash for payment in vouchers

To give the background, I bought a computer from Currys on their website, during their New Year sale period. I would have preferred to pay using some vouchers I had, however they were only able to be used in-store rather than online (they were Lloyds Bank Trustcard vouchers if anyone knows them). I therefore rang their customer service helpline, and was told I could pay online with my card, then go instore to collect the product, get a refund onto my card and pay using the vouchers.

I went in earlier today having chosen the "pay and collect" option, and they were indeed happy to do that for me. The problem is, the sale ended in the last couple of days, and what I bought has now increased in price. They say this means I now have to get a refund onto my card, and pay the new (higher) price using the vouchers. Effectively this means I am simply returning the computer, and buying it again in a new transaction, having to pay the higher price in the process. Is it not possible to simply exchange the forms of payment, i.e. receive the refund, and pay using vouchers as if I had used them in the first place, paying only the sale price?

Sorry if this seems confusing, I've read it through to myself and it makes sense to me but then again it's late in the day, so I'm happy to clarify anything! :)

If that's what Currys have said then you're stuck. We cannot say if it's possible or not, you don't have a legal right to that remedy.

Is there nothing else you can spend your vouchers on?
  • I see, ah well I just wanted to see if anybody knew of a workaround solution to this but if that's the case then I guess there's nothing else to try. Thanks for the reply!

On the bright side you still have the vouchers.
You can use them to "pimp" up your new computer :)
