flotex in kitchen - any experiences

hi
as part of our kitchen revamp we need new floor. until earlier today we were set on vinyl due to ease of cleaning and not being as cold as tiles. then someone mentioned a product called Flotex.

anyone used them in kitchen or elsewhere in house? any idea where to get one from? does it need underlay?

Parents-in-law have had it in their past two kitchens. They swear by it.

I couldn't tell you if it needs underlay, but it is easy to clean and a lot warmer underfoot than vinyl.

I had flotex in my kitchen in my previous property. It was a large kitchen diner and had to have a join. We had flotex down 2 times to replace the carpet as the join was very visible. They changed the flooring with no arguments but it never really looked great. I swore I would never have flotex again.

Flotex is a hard rubber backed flooring material that is usually stuck down like Vinyl. No underlay required. It's usually used in kitchens or high traffic areas such as shops etc. We had it in our church for years and it is very resilient. The pile is very much like tiny hairs, so you can wash it and it does not soak through to the floor underneath

I had it in my last two houses - absolutely brilliant stuff ! Hard wearing, warm underfoot and a piece of cake to clean off spillages.

In my last house I had it in a large added on conservatory which required a join - no problem. Just get someone in who knows how to do it - not a cowboy with a roll of double sided tape !

I am a professional carpet cleaner.

I love flotex, since coming across it in customers kitchens have had it in my own. It does however hold a hidden reservoir of dirt, so does need a proper regular clean.
