Help! Computer keeps trying to load updates

Every time I shut my computer down it tells me that it is loading 1 of 13 updates.
No matter how long I leave the computer on it never gets past this first screen, which mean I have to power off in and on again in order to use my computer.
Is there any way of overriding this so my computer shuts down normally.... Help!

Try turning off automatic updates then try manually installing them once a week.0

If it is a laptop you will probably need to have the power lead plugged in. Also may be worth turning off the auto updates and doing them manually one at a time.0
