Halifax One Credit Card PPI

Hi Guys.

I'm a bit unsure whether to apply for a PPI refund or not.

I applied online for a Halifax One Credit Card back in November 2005, at the age of 20. I have kept all documents and statements since then. I have gone through them all, and it seems that I had ticked the box saying I wish to purchase Credit Card Repayments Cover, and is signed by me. I even have a letter with the following stated:

[..]You have confirmed that you are working and have applied for a credit card. You therefore require the peace of mind that should your income stop unexpectedly this cover may help to pay the outstanding balance on your credit card.

You have not received advice or recommendation from us.

You have chosen to consider our Credit Card Repayments Cover. You have advised that you have taken into account the cost of the insurance, which will be added to the outstanding balance on your credit card each month.[..]

So, basically I haven't been mis-sold a PPI.

When I took out the credit card I was in full-time employment, and I have never been out off employment since May 2006. My original credit limit was £900 (which I took full advantage of!). Each month I made a £100 payment and decreased my credit limit by £50-£100 each month to help me pay it off. As of now I do not owe a penny.

Over the last 8 years, the repayments cover has totalled £580 and late/overlimit fees have totalled £520. I have borrowed £900 and paid back £900, and an additional £1100 (for peace of mind!). Despite agreeing to take out a policy, would I still be eligible for a full refund of £1100. I no longer need peace of mind, my job is stable. And even if I lost my job, I wouldn't need help to pay off my outstanding balance because it is already paid off.

Do I still have a case? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys :D

First thing that tells us is that you would not have been sold it. It is between you and your PC. No sales rep was involved. That means you cannot be mis-sold. You would have to be relying on the on-line process saying something it shouldnt.

Excellent. That verifies they have not given you advice and that you selected it. The layout seems to be a decent statement of demands and needs verifying what took place. So, that indicates no mis-sale.

No. Think about it. What wrongdoing would you allege? You yourself admit there is none.
Do I still have a case?

not on what you have told us.
