Cannot insert hyperlinks or smilies

For some time now I've been un able to insert smilies in posts. I can click on them but nothing happens however I can now no longer insert hyperlinks either. Clicking the hyperlink icon does not do anything , I don't even receive the box to input the url.
I've tried on laptop and ipad and have cleared cookies etc on both to no avail so suspect my account has been modified.
Any thoughts on how to resolve? I used to post competitions but I'm reluctant to post without hyperlinks as someone is guaranteed to throw a strop.

Are you using Internet Explorer 11? It doesn't work properly with these forums, with problems like you describe.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Yes it is an IE 11 problem, has been since December on this forum when IE updated.
I can't post hyperlinks, but you can drag and drop the smiles into your post!0 -
If i use hyperlinks, the site crashes and reloads - it has always happened to me. Responses to technical issues have always been unpredictable and unsatisfactory; i don't know if it is the techi team or the browser or the compatibility issue.0

Sounds like it is a problem your end then.
Have you always used the same browser?
Are you sure you are following the correct procedure to create hyperlinks?
'Always' sounds pretty fundamental.
Can you not even do a hyperlink to (say) the forum top menu?
(BTW, the site itself won't crash, just your link to it ... unless you have undreamt-of powers ...
