I have 4 “satisfied” defaults on my credit file from 2004, is it true that,
Granted by just being there it is not good, but as the defaults gets older it has less and less bad impact on my credit score
As underwriters concentrate on how recent credit is run, 0-3years old

Yes it is true. With a default on your credit file, you are a financial leper I am afraid. However as these defaults age, it does become easier to get credit. I have had a similar experience, and with just one default due to come off my account in July 08, have just been accepted for a gold card from Citibank.
