Hi all
So I've finally managed to get my 10 year old to decide what he wants to do for his birthday (March) and he wants an 'army party'.
On part of me thinks 'fab, I can hire the local hall and do this much cheaper than a organised-for-you bowling/pizza/other party
But I'm worried about keeping that age of kids amused but not injured... I had a google and there are some fab game ideas but I they are all quite physical and worry it will end in someone getting hurt. And then I worry that things like 'traditional party games' themes as Army ones would be too young for that age group
I don't want them to be bored either though, lol... They're too old for a quiet party, and need to be active - but without it descending into disaster and injury.
Does anyone have any ideas for activities for older children for an army party?
Thank you x

Though my son did this for his 11th birthday. They were dressed in camouflage gear and put on different 'maps'.

Drop into an Army surplus shop & get the big green Tshirts? They wash well, they're the Real Thing, they can be worn throughout (protecting party clothes if needed) & with a heavy marker pen can have name & some "rank" written on. (Blood type optional!)
Then nerf weapons inside & "assassins circle" with waterpistols outside (A gets B gets C gets D gets A - you take on your kill's target & winner survives.) Where waterpistols expensive, feeble, simply unreliable, any squeezy bottle will do so stock up on really cheap washing up liquid?!
Finally, if you can get a box of rations, divvy them out (pocket the matches) as special treats. My lot go loopy for the boiled sweets & the biscuits fruit...0 -
We had some 'downtime' after eating at one party, I put them in two teams and they had to work out puzzles against the clock. You could have only the team Captain come up to you the General, for answers to be checked, and you keep overall score over all the games etc.
If you don't mind, the winning team could be the firing squad who Nerf or water bomb the losers - bit like they do in paintballingYou could get quite a bit of influence from paintball games like 'capture the flag' as well
Whenever I've gone on military trips with the students, the army have put a lot of team work and intelligence tests on like Hanoi Towers, and how to get your whole team across the minefield only using say 3 planks of wood etc. Would give you some peace as they try to race, so you can sort food or the next game etc.
Camo party bags would be cool, with some of that fruit netting tied round to look like camo net, put in themed sweets too.Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts.
