Bought a couple of these in Dec. First plug is situated downstairs & connected to router. Second plug situated upstairs & connected to pc. Both are plugged directly into sockets with no extension cables. Install went fine & i had fast broadband upstairs. Over the last 2 days the home light on the upstairs unit is constantly red. If i restore the unit to factory defaults the light will then go green. After 10mins it is back to red though. All lights on the downstairs unit are green, although nothing is plugged into this except the router.

Have you tried taking the 'slave' unit back to the same room as the 'master unit and plugging it in to a nearby socket? If it works ok, then it might indicate a problem with your house wiring. If it still misbehaves, then you could possibly have a faulty unit.
I use the same kit and have had no problems at all thankfully, and I'm using both plugs in extension sockets!... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -
Download Dlan cockpit from here.http://www.devolo.com/en/dLAN-software/dLAN-Cockpit-simple-powerline-network-configuration. It will show what speed is being achieved. The red home light is not a fault but indicates the network connection is suitable for simple data transfer and internet access; flashes when data is being transmitted.0

I now have the Devolo 500s for use with Infinty and they are superb.
On my old, non Devolo, plugs the light showed the quality of the data connection, if it was green then full speed was achievable. If the wiring wasn't up to it the light would be either amber or red, they still work on red but data speeds are slower.
It looks like the light operates in a similar way on the Devolo units as I have one room in the house where I get an amber light, in any other room I get green. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Have downloaded latest firmware which seems to have solved the problem.
Units do work if the home light is red. In this case i was getting 10% of my available speed which was the same as my rubbish wireles connection.0
