Basically as the title says the drive wont open, I have to press the button a number of times to get it to open and getting quite annoying. Can I just replace it with another drive ? Its a PC and the drive is an IDE.

Could be the button on the case is sticky or has got fluff behind it stopping it properly presseing the real button on the unit, but if you can't do an eject by Right Click and eject then one of the gears or a rubber transfer band has gone.

Open the case up if your not pressing the button directly on the drive, can you clean it to make It better, if no its' easily replaced, assuming you have confirmed if it's IDE (must be quite old) but a IDE one will be harder to come by as it's older tech.
