Just coming to the end of my 2 year business electricity contract with British Gas.
Letter came through with my new prices on.
Thought I might try & 'negociate' a bit....
Offered me a lot cheaper prices than my letter AND if I signed up on the phone then I got a £250 credit !!!!
So I have saved my business £1099 on my next years electricity.
Just shows you not to take the first price offered.
:D

  • Business rates, as you correctly say, can be renegotiated down. The initial rollover rates offered are always horrendous, much the same as car insurance.

For domestic properties unfortunately, you can't do this. You effectively have to pick from the list available. Even when large consumer groups have tried to negotiate in bulk, the best offer they've got has been a tariff that was generally available anyway.
