Collection Letter but No PCN - Help?

dont worry about the double thread issue
I have asked the board guide to merge them and then tidy it up , so hopefully there will be just the one
as for the person who told you its a bailiffs letter, stop taking that persons advice please
my advice, such as it is, is to be guided by this forum, and only by this forum
the only real link you need is this one posted before https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822
everything you , your daughter and anyone else needs to know is in there
the only thing worse than any advice is bad advice , which you wont get here from forum regulars and especially not from CM and her sticky thread (its why she did it and she should be applauded for it)
and yes, these debt collector companies are ignorant and deceitful and nasty and any other words you care to name
so ignore them , do not speak to them, definitely DO NOT ring them up , they wont help you, they just want your money so they can have another holiday at your expense
the actual word is - parasites0 -
This one is similar to your query, same sort of advice being given (just a different debt collector letter chain):

Hi again all,
I have had a read of Coupon Mads sticky thread at last. Not as daunting as it originally seemed. It's just such a huge amount of information with so many ifs and buts that I found confusing at first. But its helped and I now understand the lingo and abbreviations a lot better.
My poor friend who told me it was a bailiffs letter, she called me and I read out a few lines of the letter including the line in bold which states "Further action may be taken at considerable cost to you if the debt is not cleared" closely followed by "they better not show up at my doorstep!" it was easy for her to think I had bailiffs bothering me. Anyway, she did in fact offer good advice "Get on MSE website, see what they say!".
Thank you all for your help, I will not contact the DC again at all and I will tell them where to go if they call me (they picked up on my telephone number when I called them, durrr I know!) I will send a letter to VCS as RedX suggested and ask them to cancel the charge or send a POPLA code with details of the incident so I can challenge/appeal to the proper mediation service.
Ill let you know how I get on. Thanks again for helping to put my mind at rest.0 -
no problem, given the amount of time since the alleged incident, they may indicate what the DC said, that you cannot appeal
in that case you may have a case number or letter that can be scanned, then you complain to the BPA and the DVLA that you are being harrassed and your rights infringed etc
you can report the DC too , but its probably best if you then warn them off first , threatening to report them if they harass you
best to see what the PPC has to say first , and come back for further advice after any reply, dont sit on it
and yes it is complicated and daunting, so read it through , have a break , read it tomorrow , have a break etc , dont try and run a marathon , try the 100 metres first

I suggest you open a word document and copy and paste everything relevant to you in it, or write it down, that way you can see what advice is for you without the rest of itWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

if you are not prepared to go to county court and defend the illicit contractual penalty then your only other option is to pay them what they want.
But then if this is the case, why did you come here.
Anybody can send you an invoice for anything and they can also take you to court for not paying that invoice.
I can invoice you and take you to court for reading this,
The question is would I win, if you don't return the papers and defend it, yes I would.
If you do, no I will not and the likely chances of these scammers winning are probably about the same as mine would be.
In Life people can and do try it on, if they are lucky they hit a mug as a victim who craps it and pays up.
This is how these people work.Be happy...;)0
