Mechanic crashed my car

Hello
I left my car with a garage for repairs. Whilst in a test drive, someone pulled out from being parked along the road and has damaged the front bumper all along the car to the back panel. The doors are badly damaged and jammed shut.

The car is only worth 3500 so I guess it will be written off. The garage has contacted their insurer and the third party allegedly admitted liability.

Do I need to contact my insurer or do I let the garage get on with it? I have a new car so was planning to sell the car this weekend so I am not bothered by what has happened, it was just unfortunate for the poor mechanic test driving it.

best bet is sell it to the garage
  • There is no need to inform your insurers at this point as presumably the garage has trade insurance and by the sounds of it the TP has admitted liability. You nor any of your named drivers were involved in the accident.

Surely under the terms of the policy there is a need to inform insurers of any potential claim?

What potential claim? The vehicle is covered by the motor trade policy. The OP nor any of their named drivers were driving. The TP was at fault for the accident
