i have had one for a few years now and never had any problems with it , it does the job but a bit tricky if you have any of the dreaded woodchip paper

Yep go for it, these are really good , i wouldn't be without mine. Had mine Black and Decker brand new in the box from the car boot sale £5. What a bargain. ;)

I have one and it's been well used in my houses and my parent's house, neighbours etc. I would hate to go back to wetting and scraping paper off.

Also, very useful for de-frosting freezers, a tip I picked up from here. Did a well iced up 6 foot one yesterday and it was dry and back on again in much less than 1 hour.

They are good. Our old house was victorian and had six layers of glossed over woodchip and it got it all off. Not easy but better that wetting 'n' scraping by hand. If you are planning to use it a lot or have large ares to strip I would recommend getting one where the steaming plate connects to the water tank by a hose rather than an all in one unit where you hold the water (like an iron) They get very heavy after a while. Earlex to a good cheap one for £40 or so which can then be used for carpet cleaning, window cleaning, defrosting etc when all your decorating is done.

When I defrost my freezer (an anual event) I use the jet of steam to melt off the ice. HTH

The freezer, I was thinkibg off, has just about died, door being held shut with tape, caught it before it defrosted. Next one will be, auto defrost, I hope.

    Thanks

These steamers/strippers pretty good although I certainly wouldn't recommend Earlex. Had several problems with it & had to return it to B&Q - the assistant told me they get Earlex products returned all the time!

I replaced it with a Black & Decker - no problems at all :-)
