Tax credits as a childminder question

I have been a childminder for almost 10 years and renewing tax credits I have always just given net profit figure.
I was flicking through entitled to.com this morning and came across this
..... "Childminder Earnings
Special rules apply to self employed childminders so you're more likely to qualify for benefits or could get a higher amount. For this reason you should enter your earnings from childminding separately from other earnings.
Please enter your gross income from childminding in the box below. DWP rules mean that two-thirds of this income is ignored in calculating benefits. The calculator will automatically take off the two-thirds deduction.
Separately please enter any deductions you're allowed to make (for notional tax, National Insurance and half of any contributions you make to a pension). More information is available on income from work as a childminder." ....
If I was to do this I would definitely be more beneficial to me than putting through my net profit. Can anyone shed any more light on this ? - does it apply to Northern Ireland?, - is this something very new ? Should I ring tax credits ?
Thanks for any information anyone can give me !

The above is not referring to tax credits - tax credits are administered by HMRC not DWP, 100% of pension conts are deductible and you can't deduct tax. The above will be referring to benefits eg housing benefit.0

thanks for your quick reply - thought it was too good to be true! - should have thought it through rather than jumping to conclusion!0
