Waiting on a new ink cartridge, but I'm getting REALLY annoyed by distracting flashing alert light, which comes on, even after turning printer off.

Your lucky - the power button on my HP Deskjet stopped working after only about a month! Couldn't be bothered to return it as it only cost about £30 and just switch it off at the mains.0
