Hi all - haven't been on in a couple of days - not much to report that's either OS or MSE, unfortunately.
I sobbed when I read the Book Thief - a wonderful book; I didn't know it was being made into a film.
So sad to hear about that poor little boy's body being found:(
Hope you all have a safe and peaceful day, everyone xx0 -
Morning all,
RIP little boy, too young, too soon x
Grey and wet here which doesn't help as it is windy and cold.
Must go and see the pharmacist this morning as somebody in the surgery decided that I no longer have thyroid problems and disallowed my thyroxin prescription. I didn't think it was a condition that could heal itself! I can't see the GP till Monday so maybe the pharmacy will trust me on two tablets till then.
On a positive note, yesterday was a NSD :T and I had a lovely long chat with a friend who now works part time.
Today I shall wander round and photograph bits of furniture we could live without and see if DD would be able to use them - they are moving to an unfurnished house and currently own a bed, a sofa and some bookcases. Oh, and a microwave that gave up the ghost a few days ago
Hugs all round and stay warm xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning all,
It's wet and soggy here as well.
Thank you for your kind words, I promise to be careful:o
My bf and her hubby came for a visit last night, which was nice. I normally end up feeding everyone but couldn't manage that, but it was nice just to see some different faces.
My son and his friends were filming their media project in the garage, so eight big lads messing around, much hilarity, sounded like good fun:D
Tea tonight is hubby's speciality chicken and chorizo stew with rice and I have some wraps that need using up.
JackieO I'm jealous of your baking day, can't wait to be able to make a cake again.
My thoughts and prayers are with the poor little boy in Scotland, what a sad waste of a young life.
Anyway enough waffle, enjoy your Saturday xxStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
Working hard to get rid of our debt.0 -
Good morning everyone

Have been up since early but did sleep well last night so feel much better today.
Am currently even more obsessed with online banking and spreadsheets and looking at ways to make more of an impact on what remains of our debt. Have managed to move around some money to make an additional payment to get to 60% paid off. Now I am plotting a way to pay off another debt completely.
I really need to break these chains that have surrounded us since the house disaster but the lessons I have learned since needing to be careful with money will never leave me and I know I owe so much of that to this site and this thread. Was talking to DH about this last night when he said "When we are out of debtI want to buy .....". Yes we will have some treats but I will never waste money like I did, never ever.
I am another one who loves to read a book and then is often disappointed by the film as the characters are not as I visualise them. I almost always prefer the book to the film with just two exceptions I can think of that the moment. I preferred the film of The English Patient to Michael Ondaatje's book, and I preferred the TV series of Any Human Heart to William Boyd's book, even though I adore William Boyd and everything he writes. The Book Thief was an absolutely wonderful book and I do want to see the film.
Ok ramble over!
So desperately sad about little Mikaeel. his mother has been detained
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well, safe and warm and have a super day

Damp and grey here again

DH is just cleaning out the stove, we had it on last night because it turned chilly, but not chilly enough to warrant putting the CH on. The energy parasites must be sobbing into their obscene profit margins because it has been such a mild winter :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:They actually owe me just over £200 :pnahnahnahnahna
Really annoyed at diabetic nurse, the dappy mare has prescribed the wrong lancets that will not work with my tester  Good job I am seeing the GP on Monday.
No plans today so I am going to sit quietly this afternoon and start filling in my DLA form
I heard that the poor little mite was found at the mother's sisters house and that the mother has been arrested
RIP little angel Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Decided not to do any painting. Had rubbish sleep and with the kids at home I can guarantee little persons will be nagging to "help" so will start back up again on Monday. Shall have a lazy day and potter at home instead

Afternoon:D
Noah at his dads this weekend so it's date weekend for me and DH;) and the little lady of course! I love this chance to nurture the couple side of our relationship and enjoy each other in relative peace
DH let me sleep till 9 then made us all blackcurrant and cream cheese pancakes with a pot of fresh coffee. Was lush .... Asher now stained with blackcurrant hands :rotfl:
Off out shortly to farm for a sack of spuds.
I have a few things to list on eBay later.
We have also just bought Asher a new car seat as she's outgrown the baby one so need to sell the other. It's a recaro profi plus and was 150 quid .... Because we live in a village I walk everywhere so shes hardly been in it.... Looks brand new, but people have them on eBay for 4.99 starting bid and no one seems to be buying so may rethink it.
Plan for later is early baths and pjs on, and snuggle and get through season 6 of Greys Anatomy.... Bliss:p
Tea has been altered as DH fancies gammon, egg and HM chips.
Where is Tru?
Hello to Molly nice to see you posting xx0 -
Afternoon all .
Late on today. Didn't sleep too well again last night, keep throwing my knee out at the mo and its constantly aching.
Dinner tonight is burgers and wedges for them and corn beef hash fritters and jacket spud for me.
Finally finished the floor cushion I started in Oct last year. Lol well it is patchwork. Didn't cost me anything to make as I had loads of scraps left over from other projects and bags full of cut off wadding, so even better as it was free.
Weather here is overcast and damp so washing is inside on airer again.
Right gonna motivate myself and see if I can bear to stand long enough to bake some cakes as the tins are looking very bare.
Hugs to all xxBright Blessings xx0 -
Change of plan here, unexpected visitors for lunch with only a couple of hours notice. Ran round & did all the housework in 40 mins, hubby pulled up some leeks & I made leek & potato soup I bought a nice loaf from the local bakers & used up the leftover cheese board from Christmas.
I'm now going to put my feet up & do some knitting as I'm tired now & need to relax for a while.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
