I've had an ongoing issue with Npower not setting up my new gas account for nearly 12 months now (supposed to be opened feb 13) and it's only the last month or so that they've confirmed an account is now open, and the billing will be sorted out.

My question is, they've said there will be some kind of good will gesture, but won't say what it will be as yet.

Has anyone else been/is in the same situation as me? And what kind of discount did you receive?

Cheers

Mike

Don't rely on a goodwill gesture - read your own meters and make sure you are putting enough aside to pay the bill, 12months or so of gas could be up to £700 or more so hopefully you've been putting it away (or not spending it) so it's sitting in your bank waiting for the ginormous bill to drop through the letterbox.
If they haven't been taking a direct debit and you haven't been checking your consumption and putting the money away be very afraid.
Their goodwill gesture might just be to allow you to pay the arrears over a longer period than normal (ie 2 years instead of one). But be aware that any arrears will stop you swapping until they are paid off.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

Well I've got to say I am really happy with Npower, once they finally sorted out the billing issues, I was offered a large discount on the amount owed.

So a win win for me, whoop!

We had an issue with B Gas a few years ago and they would not accept responsibility for the service. However in the end they agreed to open an account for the gas and billed us £1000 but reduced to £750 as a good will gesture.

Also with N Power I complained regarding the bad customer service I received last year and they gave me a goodwill payment of £35.00.
