Electricity Question

Hi I am trying to monitor our electricity usage. Can someone explain to me how electricity is measured. I have tried Wikipedia but it is confusing.

Thanks in advance :D

    Its measured in Kilowatt Hours.

One Kilowatt hour = One unit of electricity.

That is what your electricity meter records.

One unit of electricity = One kWh = 1000 Watts

A 1KW (1000 Watt) heater will use 1 unit of electricity in one hour.
A 3KW (3000 Watt) heater will use 3 units of electricity in one hour.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

    No. No. No. No. No.

    .......snipped....
1 kWh means 1 kW for 1 hour (or 2 kW for half an hour, or 100 W for 10 hours, etc.)
Thanks for the lesson in basic electrical principles, however it would probably have been easier to just point out I forgot to put the words "per hour" when posting.

Either way I'm sure anyone reading will know exactly what I meant when they read the example I gave using electric heaters.
