Help I've messed up some photos using Irfanview

Hi All

As my title suggests I have ruined some photos using Irfanview & saved the ruined photo over the opriginal photo, is there any way of repairing the damage.

I was trying to resize the photos to 6" x 4" (thats what fits in my album) and the original photos were much bigger. So I merrily went into the Image menu & select the resize/resample option & altered the actual size of the photo to 6 x 4. All was well or so I thought, but when I go to upload the photos to photobox I get a warning that several of them are not of good enough quality to print.

Basically I would like to get the photos back to their original state & let photobox crop/resize as required. Sadly I had already deleted them off my camera's memory card so thats not an option.

Hope someone can help as some of them are pictures of my young baby.

Doubt if there is anything that can be done if you have saved onto the original file and deleted the images from the camera card. Resizing in Irfanview is relatively painless unless you had it set to resize in pixels or CMs instead of inches.

Try running a recovery program; http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/uk/welcome.htm

If that doesn't work, we'll try another program.

    Hi

Thanks for the info. I have downloaded pcinspector but I upload my photos via a docking station & pcinspector doesn't give me the option of selecting the digital camera to search for photos. I don't have a card reader

Sorry to be a pain, but any other suggestions.

Are the photos stored on your HDD? If not, deleting the photos from the card memory doesn't make them unrecoverable. Deleted or formatted?

But you will need to buy or borrow a card reader. They are cheap.

I'll buy a card reader & post back for more help when I have one.

    Thanks

Do you attempt to retrieve them from the HDD?

    Hi Again.

Well I now have my card reader and have tried to recover the photos using PCInspector from the memory card. It have recovered a couple of the photos but not all of them (sadly the ones I most wanted are in part of the "not recovered" set).

I downloaded the photos from my camera via a docking station to a folder on my Cdrive & then deleted them from the memory card. My partner has taken a few photos on the memory card before I realised I b*ggered up the photos. I can't seem to get PCInspector to work on my C drive (don't know if it's possible to do that).

Is there anything out there that might help me recover them from my Cdrive or if anyone has any more suggestions I would be grateful.

Can't see why that program won't scan your C: drive.

This is the one for media cards: http://www.pcinspector.de/smart_media_recovery/uk/welcome.htm

I'll see if I can dig up any others.....

I've also tried Recuva on my c drive. This speeds through very quickly & find over 2000 files (I'd be happy to trawl through them to find the pics) but sticks at 96% and never completes.
