Incapacity benefit

My husband's SSP finished on 20th April 07, applied for income support and incapacity benefit on the 21st April. They had all forms completed fully. Was told should here if we're entitled to them beginning of May. End of May heard from Income support saying not entitled as they work figures in advance and they say my husband still gets £70 SSP (even though they've had confirmation from employer that its finished). Mp supposed to be looking into it, but not heard anything. Wouldn't mind but we have 2 young daughters and the only income coming in since April is mine, which is £260 p.m, £80 p.w CTC and £120 child benefit. Our overdraft is pratically zero now.
We have phoned incapacity regularly each week and not once have they said there is a problem, now since 2 weeks ago, my husband rang them, to be told that they had lost all sick notes since April. Managed to get them again from Doctor, then took them in. Was then told he needed to complete an IB50. Why have they not bothered contacting us before about this. To me this is very incompetent on their behalf.
Getting really fed up now as we now can not afford to pay our mortgage or day to day bills.
Have no idea when we will get any money but I can't take anymore.

you may find that it's child tax credit and not income support you need to claim. If your really struggling to work it all out or feel like your getting nowhere try contacting your local social services dpt and ask if they have a 'welfare benefits officer' they work independantly from the government.
My local one was great she sorted it all out and fought tooth and nail to get it all back dated.0 -
Am I right in thinking the £250 you say is yours is wages? If so you should also be applying for Working Tax Credit. Or if your hubby is going to continue on the sick and therefore be at home perhaps you could get a job and then tax credits will mean you will be heaps better off.0
