bad couriers (parcelmonkey)

newbie

Just a quickie, sent an amplifier using parcelmonkey who out sourced the job to parcelforce, on arrival the amp was clearly damaged. A claim was sent and an estimate sent based on photos which were requested as the courier refused to pay anything to towards transporting to the repairer. I shipped myself and when i submitted the invoice on completion the estimate was short by fifty quid which PM will not pay. Surely the fact that they failed to fulfill the contract with myself in couriering the parcel intact, they should assume responsibility for transporting to the repairer and back and the full cost of the repair. Or am i deluded.:(

Usually you are refunded the full cost of the item, not a repair cost for the item. What did you declares its value as and how much was the claim you made?

Was the claim payout from PM the limit of its stated claim ceiling?
  • Rare piece so repair was the only option, insured for £850. My problem was they asked for an estimate based on photos because they refused to cover transporting to the repairer , then baulked when the actual cost were slightly more. I wouldn't use them again and urge others to think twice. Personally they have been fine it's when things go wrong you find out how good a company are.

If its to be repaired, then they have to cover the cost of the repair, transportation to the repairer and back would be part of that process. If it was insured for £850 did they pay £850 or less?

They might be trying to pull the consequential losses are not paid card, but this is not a consequential cost, this is a cost associated with repair.

Ask them to show you where in the terms and conditions it states that this is excluded. If they can't consider notifying them that you will be sending a letter before action as the start of the process to recover costs.
