Outlook Express - deleted e-mails

Hi, my colleague uses Outlook Express and has had problems today in that she couldn't delete e-mails, she couldn't even move them to the Deleted folder, it came up with an error message 'The email cannot be deleted or moved'. She googled the problem and it was suggested that she had a corrupt DBX file. It recommended she move any items she wanted to save in to a user-created folder before deleting the corrupt Deleted Items.DBX file. She started to do this and due to the huge amount of e-mails she 'saves' in the deleted box she just left it running, moving the files to the newly-created folder. However when she went back to the computer, it had finished whatever it was doing but the old deleted folder is empty and so is the newly created one! And before anyone says it, yes, I have advised her not to 'save' e-mails like this
Anyhow, together we've both googled how to restore deleted "Deleted" folder mail and there's suggestions about deleting the .DBX file and renaming the .BAK file to .DBX. We've located the .DBX file but there is no .BAK file. The .DBX file is huge, over 2Gb so I'm wondering if that has something to do with the e-mails being deleted. Anyway, does anyone know if we can use the .DBX file to somehow restore the deleted e-mails ?
And if anyone can understand all that, I take my hat off to you lol :rotfl:
