Hi there,
I recently got back from a Xmas break and my Network Hard Disk Drive was dead. On 30th Dec, I Took it back to Maplin's (from whom I bought it online), and they said the power supply was dead. They didn't have a matching one in store though. So what they said they would do - is refund me the £215, and order a new one....that way when the new one has arrived, I would technically buy that one, but in effect just get the power supply and keep my hard drive. They would keep hold of my hard drive while the new one was ordered.
Seemed fair enough......so I get a text from Yodel saying it has arrived at Maplin 2 days later. I rung Maplin but strangely they said no it hadn't arrived, sometimes Yodel are wrong, and they would call me when it arrives.
Saturday 4th January - still no phone call. I was a bit fed up by this point so I went down to Maplin and the guy explains to me that the ordered drive has arrived - hooray!!! Thing is, they've had a bit of a hitch.....turns out, the manager has mistakenly sent my hard drive, with 3 Terrabytes of my personal data on - back to head office and marked it as faulty. My face turns to thunder, and the guy in store says "Yeah I know, fuming I was". He says he has ordered it back to the Maplin store and will arrive by Tuesday 7th Jan. They will phone me immediately.
7th January arrives....... no phone call, and having checked my bank account - I haven't even been refunded the original £215.
I wait until 12th January and visit the store again. They say they have identified it at head office and will send it asap, it will probably arrive on the next delivery on Tuesday 14th January.
On Tuesday 14th January I get a phone call from the local store explaining that it hadn't arrived, so they rung head office and it was apparently sitting on the desk at head office and they would manually send it on it's own to arrive at the store asap.
That was 3 days ago. It is now 17th January. I have heard nothing since. I do not know where my hard drive is with all my personal data on (family picures, music, movies) and have not a clue what to do.
Any advice appreciated. Thank You.

Hard drives fail for millions of reasons, this is one of them, ask for the money back, and restore from the back upDo you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0
