Spare car key not honoured.
Hi everyone,
I bought a Mazda 2 Sport in May 2011 outright part ex from a dealer under the Cambria group. As I was given my two keys (one for spare) and was looking forward to driving off, i tried to put one of the keys in the ignition but it didnt fit. When I went back in to ask about this the sales rep said he would take the key back as it was the incorrect one and send me my spare key at a later date.
After a few days I had not heard anything so I followed up with an email to the sales rep. No reply. Then a phone call, he was busy. Anyway I went back to the dealership last week to have a repair and asked about this key again, and was told I would get a call off the general manager when he comes in........no call.
I have called numerous times over the last week or so now and have now been told that there has been a change of general manager in the last few days and incidentally it is my fault now for leaving it so long.
In the opinion of fellow forumers, am I still right to pursue this? I feel that I paid for this key when I bought the car. Note: the original sales rep has now left too.
Thanks everyone.

If you've done nothing for nearly three years it can't be that important to you.I bought a Mazda 2 Sport in May 20110 -
Thanks for that Norman, but like I said, I did email and phone etc, however, no-one got back to me. I am a very busy person too, working everyday and on call.0

I think you're going to have a tough time with this. As Norman said, this was 3 years ago.
What exactly is it you're after? Reimbursement for the key or the actual key?0 -
It's the spare key I'm after.0

Do you take the car to the dealership for servicing? This will be the only route you're likely to get anything, and that anything will be a contribution to the cost of a new spare key at best.
If they can't see themselves getting any more business from you, they're not going to be very helpful as it's been so long. As for the original spare, that isn't going to be in the dealership, the first stock check where they found a key with no car to put to it, it will have been binned.0 -
Nigh on 3 years have passed! If it had been 3 months I'd have said pursue it. As it stands, just buy a new key and blame yourself as much as the garage for procrastinating.0

Acceptance can occur through inaction...
... 3 years of inaction is a long time ...0
