Thank you all for the compliments. It warmed my heart.

Well, I held back the letter and talked to the secretary. I asked for a full account.
That day they were allowed to take in dress up clothes. My dd wanted her floor length Rupunzel dress. At play time she was told NOT to go on the frame with her long dress. She ignored this instruction and hurt herself.

I have just spoken to her about this.

Thanks for all the advice and feedback.

    Stop messing about. ;)

Get her a harness, helmet, some rope, a few carabina and some shoes that she can really use.

Let her show you what she can really do!

Also. Find out where the nearest climbing wall is, if she can do it properly in the right surroundings she probably won't bother with something as childish as a playground climbing frame..........Though I wouldn't put money on it! :rotfl:

They are just cuts and bruises. Let her explore! She sounds very physical and like she's having fun. A few bruises are par for the course.

Out of interest, would you be posting this if she were a boy?

I have a 4yo DD too and I don;t care if she gets hurt playing as long as nothing is broken! Let them explore their bodies and what they can do. To be honest you sound a bit nervy with your comments about the gym class too.

If she is wanting to climb and be adventurous and is clever, sign her up for gymnastics at your local club/sports centre. It sounds like she has all of the personality traits needed to be a success at the sport.

    Or local climbing wall.

:rotfl: Climbing frame despite the long dress!

Reminds me of the cartoon about Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers - "Sure he was great, but don't forget that Ginger Rogers did everything he did, ...backwards and in high heels."

I've been thinking about this since the thread was started (how sad lol!)
I feel I may face this situation in a couple of years and I was thinking how I would deal with it.
My little boy isn't even 2 yet and he seems to have NO fear whatsoever. He broke his 1st metatarsal 2 weeks ago jumping off something quite high. The next day he started doing it again, it was as if nothing had happened! I have now resigned myself to the fact that I will be spending more time in my place of work when I am off duty than when I'm working!!

Anyway, we decided to nurture our son's adventurous side. He has shown a huge interest in bikes, watches 'Tread BMX' every morning (this is what he asks for) and some mountain bike programme that his daddy watches. We bought him a balance bike for xmas. Within a week he mastered how to build up momentum and balance with his feet up. I'm amazed!

My point is, nurture what she wants, not what you think she should do. Don't get me wrong, I'm no mother earth, and everyone has to have limits but she sounds like she has a sporting personality. I don't think many mum's would buy 21 month old a bike as it seems far too young but it's worked for him.

Not allowing her on the climbing frame may make her feel resentful and alienated from her peers, after all she sees them being allowed!!
