    Oh thats true, isn't it!

Decided I have to treat today as the last day of work - I've been writing a letter of condolence to a client's family, and cutting up cassette tapes so that the contents remain confidential, two inch segments, it takes a while ... then I remembered that the way I used to dispose of confidential tapes was simply to tape over them :o thats much quicker ...

Delivery driver has rung already, and was *amazingly* helpful - actually, the feedback on the Argos site about the helpful delivery drivers was one of the reasons I decided to go with them. Turns out it probably still holds true :j he may just be able to do the whole installation thing, it'd be brilliant if its possible.

Ooh, that would be brill KC! :j IT's one of those things that's probably a 5 minute job for them, they do it every day, yet you or I would be scratching our heads or ages... Hope they can, fingers crossed!

Good idea to tape over your tapes too :j Much quicker, and more fun! :j

Hope delivery driver did the necessary
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

How's the new washing machine KC?

We are at the 'holiday' home today & OH has moved the washing machine here to see if he can find the cold water stopcock - kitchen sink cold tap is dripping and he'd like to change the washer - only problem is we think the only stopcock is in the front flower bed under the rose bush!

He did, he was brilliant! After such sweet-but-dozy phone people, the delivery driver lived up to the call he made in the morning, spot on time, concerned about leaving my place clean and tidy, focussing on testing for leaks, he was great. One extra piece of tech I've not seen: you know the electronic gizmo that you sign, like for a supermarket delivery? He took a pic of under the sink to show that it wasn't leaking :rotfl:

I used it last night :j TBH, its pathetically underpowered :rotfl: but the damp stuff from yesterday is already out on the line, and I'm about to do a second wash. I have a lot to catch up on!

 thats not good! How come its there? Isn't it under a little lift-up hatch on the pavement? My stopcock sticks out into the porch, right opposite the stairs, and in my concern about drafts, I've blocked off the actual water meter :rotfl: but I'm low useage, and I don't care. There's at least two other sets of valves, though - one for the hot water tank, and one for the washing machine/dishwasher, which I myself used yesterday **puffs up proudly** :rotfl:

Hope he can find it, though!

Sister's turning up soon, so we can book the Eurostar for the little Belgian trip :)

Thanks Beanie! The drum of the old wm stayed with it, so no chance of a fire pit here ... I was exhausted, to be honest, so really glad to just get it out of the house. Didn't realise they smelt for so long!!!

Still tired today ... but we had fun booking the Eurotunnel trains, and arranging what we'd do. Must must must finish the biography.

Wonder how Gally's getting on in Leicester, thinking of historical moments ...

Twas very good, we stood at St Nicholas' Church, where the coffin got transferred from hearse to horse drawn carriage. Whole thing was quite moving really and I felt I was watching history be made. But DS's GF and I really, really wanted a white rose and couldn't get one anywhere :(. Then on the way home we came across a large deer that had been hit by a car and collapsed on the road so sat there for 1/2 hour with hazards on till police turned up, with a local farmer. They were going to put it down as it was badly hurt, quite upsetting, but at least we helped it get sorted humanely :(. DS had a blub as he went out to talk to policeman while they were talking about what to do with it :(

  • Oh, gallygirl, what a thoroughly emotional day for you. I bet you felt 'wrung out' by the time you got home.

It must have been wonderful to be part of things in Leicester, though, I felt quite moved myself when watching tiny snippets on TV. And how lovely that you could stay with the injured deer. I know the poor thing's eventual outcome wasn't a happy one but you can sleep easy that you did all you possibly could for it:kisses3:
