Yet another Parking charge question

Hello, I'm looking for a bit of advice on what to do next. I've read some of the stickies and links but a lot of it goes over my head.

My wife works for wigan infirmary and some time last year they stopped all staff from using the hospital car park. They now have to drive to one about 2 miles away then catch a bus to work (ridiculous).

One morning my wife was running late for work and had no option but to park on the hospital car park as she would have been late. She later received a letter from legion, zenith and debt recovery plus. I told her to ignore the letters as I had read online and they would go away. Having read some more, I'm not sure of that's the correct thing to do or not. Here is the most recent, excuse the side on pics (I'm on my phone so can't rotate them)

(Won't let me upload pics, can somebody sort that out?)

Should I continue to ignore, or is there something I could do to make the letters stop, it really does stress the wife out.

NO you cannot upload pics (put them on photo bucket etc and link them)

NO you should not IGNORE (because its england and wales)

    now read through this https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822

DR+ can be ignored , but not anything official like court papers or LBA or LBCCC

who was the ppc ? Euro car parks ?
  • Just out of interest Skiptown, how long ago was all of this? Time must have lapsed if you have received a bundle of letters from multiple companies. If the event occurred before October 1st, 2012 then the advice is to ignore.

In any case, do not worry because I can establish from the very documentation you have received and the nature of the allegation that what is being sought is totally unenforceable.

If the event was from October 2012 onward, can you tell me the following:
    Who is the parking company?
    Who issued the FIRST letter?
What was the demand figure in that letter?
How much was being sought on the LAST threatening letter you received?
  • As I said..over my head!! I'll give it another read later to try and understand it all.

Turns out she actually has two from them.
The first one, she was called into work as sick cover and had to use the hospital car park as the buses they put on for the staff only run at shift changeover times. Upon arrival, she realised that she hadn't brought any money, she puts the care of her patients over a parking ticket!!.

The second one, she had actually bought a ticket but it was on her side window which the attendant didn't see. She doesn't actually have the ticket any more:mad::mad:

I'll get some more details of who the parking company is.
  • OK, I'll keep an eye on the thread.

I just spent an hour splitting the NEWBIES FAQs thread up today, should help make it understandable. There's now an isolated post about debt collector stage and seriously it is NOT over your head. The advice is thorough but not rocket science!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

  • I'm working away from home and awaiting all the relevant info of the other half. I can tell you though;
They were both in dec '12, first letters where from legion and there's been so many different claim amounts (we're prepared to accept...it's now gone up to...pay X within Y amount of time..Yadda Yadda), the last one being £100 from DR+ Payable in 14 days otherwise they will advise their client to persue CCJ.
  • All right, DR+ seek £100. What was the figure in the original Notice to Keeper? And has there at any time been an offer of earlier settlement before reverting to the so-called "full charge" in the time you have received these letters?
  • Just going off the top of my head, £60. But there have been so many offers and "full charges" levied, at least 8 different amounts!! I'll get all the details and report back.
  • Right, if they keep adjusting the fee then they are not genuine and not going to try court. They wouldn't stand a chance with all that impulsive switching of the figure owed. They would have to prove genuine pre-estimate of loss and this is hard enough at any rate when they initially give you two fees, a full charge and a discount. Some bad judges just about let the discount scrape through for prompt payment but they will need a right headcase to accept their claim here.

And for the record, the figure on the Notice to Keeper is the MAXIMUM they can legally pursue. They can push for less, but that would raise questions as to why they wanted the NtK figure, but they cannot legally put in a claim for more - discluding court-related fees.

You say the PPC is Legion ? Is this really the name on the paperwork ? I ask as I can't find a Legion on the BPA list.
