Modifying existing roller blinds ?

Hi all,
Bought a flat a few months ago, all the windows are fitted with roller blinds which is fine by me.
Only one I am bothered about changing/modifying at the moment is in our bedroom.
The materiel is beige/pale cream in colour and lets a fair bit of light in.
We are about to redecorate the bedroom and need the blind to (a) be a blackout blind and (b) fit in with new colour scheme.
Existing blind fails on both these counts, but the thing is that the metal brackets/fittings/pulleys etc look to be of very good quality, and I would like to utilise them if possible.
Are there companies out there that would fit new materiel to the existing hardware ? or is it something that I could do myself or get handyman in to do ?
Any advice welcome, thanks.
<< edit >> on good terms with vendor of flat, so maybe try to find out where she got blinds from, if it was her who had them fitted..

This is extremely easy to do.
I've done it myself in my previous property. You don't need any DIY skills. All you need to do is find a suitable replacement blackout blind.
Unwind it fully and remove it from the tube which the top end is attached to. Fully lower your existing blind and remove that from the tube attached to the top. Attach your new fabric to the existing fittings. I used strong double sided tape from Poundland which provided an invisible bond. Pull up blind to desired length & job done!
Takes 5 mins.
Hope this helps.0 -
thanks lucy, that sounds reasonably straight-forward.
I suppose I will have to dismantle the existing blind first, to establish exact size of the existing fabric.
I don't know whether the existing blind was made-to-measure or not until I speak to previous owner.0 -
If you measure the width & drop of the window and then have a look at a high street retailer website (argos/wilko for instance) you will be able to tell if you have a standard size window and can buy an 'off the peg' blind. Also, if you choose a plain fabric the width can be trimmed to fit if you can't find the exact size you require.
Good Luck!0
