Hope this is the right place. I have a friend who has just found out they have a half sister (parternal) and after much consideration would like to try and get intouch.
They don't know anything about the sister or the mother and their father died 12 years ago. Is this going to be impossible or is the a glimmer of hope?

Could put an ad in local papers (if think still in area). Discreet but with fathers name asking any of his relatives to get in touch.
Wonder if he was named on birth certificate? Not sure if there is a way of tracing that.0 -
OK
So
1. This was either prior to the father's marriage or an affair (no response required). Mum knows something about it; did dad have siblings who might also know about it? Getting the mother's name is key.
2. It may be worth joining the "seeking my family" forums and putting up a request for the daughter of XXX born 70-75 to get in touch (set up a contact e-mail or phone just for the purpose)
It is not easy. I know that a child was born in a specific location within a three year period ( I suspect summer) and the name of both parents. Unfortunately she may have been registered in one of two countries and under with either of the names; one of which is very common. Not traced her.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thank you so much RAS I will try that.
I found my father when I was 13 quiet quickly which is why I think I was asked to help. but my mum and dad was married so I had details but I have also seen a side to some people who don't want to talk because if it is from affairs or other reasons which was very emotional to people they don't want to bring up the past. I will join the site and see if I can find anymore detailsit might not be much, but its better than a kick in the teeth:rotfl:
