For a start you have spyware/virus installed, which will be your major slowdown. Look here and post back when you have done......

Seems to have sped things up considerably so thanks for the advice.
Something corrupted Opera (I removed Firefox) so doing OK with Chrome for now as I tried re-installing Opera and a balloon still came up telling me to run ChkDsk (Which I did).
Now its in the process of downloading 140 Security updates so cant do owt for now.

Hi. Working a LOT better now BUT after telling me to run chkdsk it keeps running at boot up and I have to escape it to start the computer. If I don't it just sits there for hours until I turn off at the mains & reboot.
Also the primary AND secondary IDE and IDE/AMAPI channels are flagged up in the device manager and it doesn't 'See' the DVD drive.
Because I have left it a while I think it best if i start a new thread.
Look under 'Cant detect DVD drive.'
