Quick Question
Am with BG at moment (gas+elec). Even though I pay monthly via DD, BG have placed an entry in my credit file showing montly payments much in the same way as a credit card provider.
Question, do all utility (gas / elec) providers do this ie place such an entry on one's credit file.
Cheers

Not sure about other suppliers, but this is something that BG brough in a few years ago.
As the entries show that you are making payments it should have a positive effect on your score.0 -
Appreciate that it would have a positive effect even thought this credit file entry was entered onto my credit file without my knowledge or approval. Not sure about other suppliers, but this is something that BG brough in a few years ago.

Could anyone who has any info on which suppliers behave in this manner be good enough to share this info please.

You'll probably find somewhere in your T&Cs that they reserve the right to share information with credit agencies, any others to combat fraud and anyone else they feel that's appropriate or within the law. By using their gas or electricity you are bound by these T&C's
You are, after all, taking credit by using electricity or gas before you've paid for itNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
