AA policy excludes accident!

I have an AA emergency policy but when I was involved in an accident, I was told that I was not covered in this case. In the end I had to (take a bit of effort) find the phone number of my insurance and have my car recovered.
I never knew such exclusions - are all emergency covers like this? It happens that I have a comprehensive cover on this car - if I had a TPFT, I would have to pay to have the car recovered, despite of having an "emergency" policy?

Surely the AA and RAC type of coverage is for incidents of "breakdown" - i'm not at all surprised they were not interested following a RTA0

When my husband wrote our car off (thankfully no-one was hurt) AA aranged and billed us for the tow home, we then gave it to the other party to pay via their insurance.I hope no-one was hurt in your accident.Thinking about it they towed my dad & us home on boxing day about 10 years ago - that time we were all hurt (not badly but I still have dents in my legs) AA towed us and forwarded the bill straight to insurance. I remember my dad swearing about the bill from the NHS for my treatment in hospital! I think it was for about £50I'm sure you've heard it 100 times - Always read the small print - I always do, we knew we would be billed BUT as the other driver admited fault (and it was a big company that DH used to work for) we knew we could just claim it back. AA were a lot faster and nicer to deal with than the other partys 'insurance dept' Car was home within 3 hoursProud to be sorting my life out!

It is a common condition of BREAKDOWN cover policies that they do not cover recovery after an accident. It is up to your car insurance to recover you after an accident not your breakdown coverBaby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0

The RAC picked me up after my accident and took my car away a few years ago now0
